Considering the importance of a mother and son relationship, doing something for such a significant birthday as his 18th can help create memories and strengthen the bond. No matter what the similarities or differences between the mother and son, there is an activity to do for his 18th birthday that both can get joy out of doing. The birthday activity can consist of anything from a new experience to one that is reminiscent of the past.
Get a Tattoo
If he truly wants to get one, it can be a good gift for his 18th birthday. While this may seem like something a guy would do without his mother, especially since at 18 he can legally get it on his own, going with him can be a new experience and he may feel a bit more comforted having her there. She can watch him get, and enjoy, his birthday gift.
Sports Stadium Guided Tour
If both mother and son are fans of the same sports team, a guided tour of the sports stadium affiliated with that team can be a dream 18th birthday gift. It is one thing to see the stadium from the stands, it is another to be able to get a behind the scenes view. In some cases, they may be able to actually meet a player or two. A road trip can be an opportunity for mother and son to revisit places they used to go when he was a child and find new places to discover. At 18 years old, a male may start to feel more like an adult, which means he may want a change in his room décor. Mother and son can spend the day going shopping for new items for his room. Another option is to work on refurbishing an old piece of furniture that he can use. Following that up with his favorite meal after a long day can be a good 18th birthday idea.

If mother and son do not get to do certain sporty activities very often, his 18th birthday is an opportunity to get out and try something new together. An activity that he has never done before can be a good option. Sports such as snowboarding or sailing are some options to consider.
