Christian Tattoos
After taking a look at the Christian tattoo in the picture, I was inspired to find out more about these designs. So, heres a little history lesson for you. One of the oldest instances of Christian tattoos occurred during the religious wars known as the Crusades. Since these Knights were in a foreign country that didnt share there religious beliefs, they wanted to make sure they got a proper Christian burial so they often had crosses inked onto their skin. Good idea huh? Christian tattoos nowadays can be found in many walks of life from ministers, to lawyers and even prison inmates. In fact, Christian tattoos may be more prevalent in prisons then in any other walk of life. Ive heard that Jesus tattoos are especially popular. Sailors and soldiers have also worn Christian tattoos among their body art for several generations. Religious back piece designs were thought of as being helpful in avoiding harsh discipline for early sailors during the times of high piracy. The whole reason being that it was believed that a person would be unlikely to whip someone if they had a picture of Jesus on their back. It would be far too disrespectful.
Christian Tattoos
There is of course a great variety of christian tattoos out there and the most common is the cross and is perhaps the most recognized single symbol in the world. When people see it they know what it stands for and therefore they know what its bearer stands for. If Christianity is your thing you cant go wrong with a cross.
