The Grim Reaper tattoo has made some hilarious turns in pop culture through the years. Perhaps one of the best depictions of the Grim Reaper, ever, was in "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey," which was the sequel to the super-popular "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." In the film, the hapless Bill and Ted have to square off against the Grim Reaper. The play against him in several games; in one of the most memorable scenes, they play him in Battleship. Death blithely states, "You sunk my battleship," when he realizes that he's been outwitted once again. Later on, the three of them become good friends.
Little kids even get in on the act when it comes to the Grim Reaper. In the popular cartoon series "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy," Death is depicted as a stoic - yet occasionally very funny - guy with a vaguely Jamaican accent. He travels around with Billy and Mandy as they engage in many strange and hilarious adventures. Although Death is shown in a very light-hearted way in the series, it is yet another example of his enduring popularity. Kids who grow up watching the series could very well end up with their very own death tattoos design later on.
