30 Latin Quote Tattoo Ideas - BarneyFrank.net

We all know about the tattoos that David Beckham and Angelina Jolie sport. Among the many that Beckham has, it includes the name of his children and Angelina used to have the name of her ex husband Billy Bob Thornton tattooed which was later covered up. But the interesting thing to note is that these glamorous people have Latin sayings also tattooed on them.

The one Angelina has, is on the lower part of her abdomen and it is located next to a Black cross that she got  done to cover up a blue dragon she says she got when she was drunk in Amsterdam. The Latin quote says  Quod me netrit me destruit which translates to What nourishes me also destroys me.

David Beckhams Latin phrase can be seen on the inner forearm on the left side and this is just beneath Victoria his wifes name which is written wrongly in Hindi. The Latin phrase that Beckham has says Ut Amem Et Foveam  that translates to So that I love and cherish.

Though Latin as a language is not spoken today that much, it was the language that was widely used in Europe from the early 1st century BC. Plus many of the modern words that we use today come from Latin. Nowadays unless you are going to Mass at the Vatican or with really old people who still pray in Latin, Latin can be heard mostly used by medical professionals and those who practice law.

While we may not know this but we do use some Latin terms like Bona Fide which means good faith in Latin or Ad hoc which denotes for this purpose or Quid Pro quo which means something in exchange for something. Unlike language like Arabic and Hebrew which can be difficult to translate, Latin can be translated pretty simply when you are using them as part or whole of your tattoo design.

You will find a lot of translations online which will give you the meaning of the term that you are going to get tattooed. But when you are getting a tattoo done in a language you are not familiar with then it is better that you do check once but twice. The thing is you can do most of your checking only online as you may not come across someone who actually speaks this language. So you really need to be double sure before proceeding with the tattoo of a Latin phrase or saying.

Some commonly used Latin phrases include:
