Finger tattoos look awesome, but require a lot of upkeep because they are on such a high traffic part of your body that is rarely covered. Consider this when you choose the placement of your finger tattoo and the color. Finger tattoos will fade and touch ups will be inevitable, especially if you go for vibrant color or get a tattoo on the inside of your finger where this is constant rubbing. Opting for a single color black or dark blue tattoo will provide you with some options as tattoos in these colors hold up quite well even with some fading. Moisturizer and sunscreen are your best tools in your efforts to keep your finger tattoo looking fresh and vibrant.
* Do not get your finger tips tattooed, these finger tattoos will fade beyond recognition and need to be touched up often. It is a waste of time and money. Consider your finger prints tattoo enough for this area of your body.
In terms of the design, simple is best. Fingers are a small space to have tattooed, and cramming a lot of design into a small space will just result in blurred lines and a unattractive mess in years to come. Keep it small, keep it simple, keep it fun.
Finally, a word about the ramifications of having your fingers tattooed. Although tattoos are rapidly becoming more and more socially acceptable, there are still some pretty serious stigmas attached to having your hands tattooed. And a finger tattoo is almost impossible to hide. Consider your future and your career plans. What seems cool at 20, may seriously impact your career and personal choices in later years. And although I have a lot of tattoos, including both of my forearms fully sleeved, I have personally chosen not get my hands or fingers tattooed out of a desire to not limit my career options down the road. Tattoos are for life, barring expensive and painful laser removal, so make sure you will be happy with a finger tattoo for the rest of your life.
