Tattoos have been an artistic expression for many cultures, groups and individuals for centuries. Sharing artwork or designing custom family or group logos and designs for multiple tattoos is also a popular way of bonding or displaying membership for groups and families. In modern times as tattoos have become more acceptable in everyday society, many couples are becoming interested in ideas for couples tattoos. Luckily, there are a wide variety of unique designs and ideas available to them.
Verses or Wedding Vows
Wedding vows and poetry are popular tattoo choices. One interesting idea for a unique couples tattoo is scripture. Many couples who share a favorite book, poem, play or even song lyric choose to tattoo partial or full passages of the special verses to themselves. One partner may have a partial lyric or part of a paragraph, while the other partner has the remaining sentences to complete it. Some married couples even have their wedding vows designed as tattoos. This is a unique idea for a couples tattoo because couples can choose exactly what they choose to express.
Wedding Rings
Some couples get tattoos in lieu of wedding rings. Wedding rings are traditionally the epitome of bonding symbolism, yet tattoo enthusiasts have found a way to take the ultimate gift of love a step further. Many couples are opting to custom design unique tattoos for their ring fingers in lieu of traditional gold bands. One-of-a-kind matching tattoo ring designs are becoming quite popular among married or otherwise-committed couples.
Corresponding Tattoos
Matching or broken hearts are popular for couples. To symbolize how each one completes the other, some couple choose to create tattoo designs that either appear to be cut in half or correspond to the other's tattoo. For instance, couples may choose to each have half a heart---one partner with the left side and the other with the right. Another artistic idea is a lock-and-key combination design.
